Post-Doc position on RNA virus evolution

Experimental models of virus evolution

The team

The Simon-Loriere Lab has been created in the Virology department of Institut Pasteur on Feb 1st, 2018, to work on RNA virus discovery, emergence, transmission, and evolution. We use viral genomics to study evolutionary processes of RNA viruses, with a focus on respiratory viruses and arboviruses.

We combine molecular epidemiology studies thanks to amazing collaborations within the Pasteur Network and experimental work, both in vitro and in vivo. We work a lot with our great colleagues at the Mouse Genetics laboratory, the Ecology and Emergence of Arthropod-borne Pathogens unit, the Structural virology unit and the Virus and Immunity Unit.

The candidate

The main project concerns experimental models of virus evolution and will be developed in close collaboration with other teams at Institut Pasteur.

We are looking for a highly motivated post-doctoral scientist with strong experience in either molecular and evolutionary biology, mutational analysis, or reverse genetics, and work in BSL-3 environment.

Knowledge of next generation sequencing techniques would be desirable but not essential.

Scientific rigor, organizational skills, high motivation, English proficiency and ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary environment are essential.

How to apply

Candidates should send in a single pdf: a cover letter including a brief description of their scientific achievements and research interests, how they would fit in a junior group, their CV and contact information for 3 references to etienne.simon-loriere@pasteur.fr.

The position will remain open until filled; the position is available immediately, but the start date is negotiable.

Funds are available for up to 3 years. Salary will be commensurate with experience according to the Institut Pasteur guidelines.
