Project manager for the ERC Synergy consortium ‘AI4AMR’
The team
Our research unit aims at studying peptidoglycan (PGN) metabolism to better understand how bacteria assemble a mature and essential PGN that confers rigidity and shape to the cell despite a highly dynamic process to accompany cell growth and division.
The project
Building an AI pipeline to accelerate antibiotic drug discovery
Drug-resistant bacteria kill more than 1 million people per year. Our ERC Synergy project (AI4AMR) aims to build an AI-based pipeline to help finding new antibiotics against drug-resistant bacteria. This highly interdisciplinary project will use a combination of advanced microscopy, automation, metabolomics, genetics, and chemistry to generate massive phenotypic datasets. We will analyze these data using deep learning to identify novel antibiotic candidates and predict their mechanisms of action. This pipeline will allow us to explore new chemical spaces, including natural products and drug combinations, and boost antibiotic drug discovery.
AI4AMR is a French-German collaboration between the teams of Ivo G Boneca (microbiology, Institut Pasteur/INSERM, Paris, France), Mark Brönstrup (chemistry, Helmholtz Centre for Infection Research, Braunschweig, Germany) and Christophe Zimmer (computational biology, University of Würzburg, Germany and Institut Pasteur). Missions
To ensure maximum synergy between the AI4AMR teams, we are now looking for a highly motivated project manager, who will be in charge of:
Helping to coordinate the collaboration between the teams
Overseeing data management, storage and implementing FAIR principles
Defining standards for metadata
Implementing secure protocols for data transfer between partners
Helping to define common protocols for data acquisition
Building and maintaining the project website
Organizing meetings and scientific animation among the three partners
Handling the logistics of sample transfer between partners
The candidate
The candidate should have a scientific background, ideally in bioinformatics or (micro)biology. Prior experience in high-throughput screening is optional but welcome.
The candidate will be hosted by the Boneca team in Paris but should be willing to travel frequently to Würzburg and Braunschweig.
How to apply
Interested candidates please send CV and motivation letter with names of references to .
